  • What is the lead time? While it’s not a fun detail to bring up, it is important to know how long it will take for the fabric to arrive. Ask your salesperson to include shipping time in his/her estimate.
  • What is the fiber content? As you know, different fibers perform in different ways. If you are specifying a commercial fabric, ask your sales rep what the rub count is. And give them time to research the answer for you.
  • Is the pattern railroaded? For a definition of railroaded, consult this useful glossary by Better Homes and Gardens.
  • Do you have “talking points” for me to tell me client? Clients seem to be asking more questions than ever. If you have a few facts memorized about each selection, it will help you convincingly present that selection to your client.
