Utilizing the Space at the Foot of the Bed

When it comes to bedroom design, an area that is easily forgotten about is the foot of the bed. This is unfortunate because this space provides so many opportunities to add function and create another point of interest. Outlined below are some interior design trends for the foot of the bed that you may want to consider trying out:

  • Vintage trunk. There is just something nostalgic about an old trunk, and it often provides a great excuse to introduce a new texture or contrast in a room. It’s also incredibly functional as it provides an additional storage solution for tucking away extra bedding and blankets.
  • Low bench. This is what we most often tend to see at the foot of a bed if a designer chooses to pay attention to this area. As a rule of thumb, the bench should typically be 17 to 19 inches in height and 16 to 20 inches in width (of course, this all depends on the size of the bed it is anchoring).
  • Sitting area. Create a cozy reading nook at the foot of the bed, and don’t be afraid to coordinate this with your choice of bedding.
